On 3/26, The Oklahoma based alt rock band, The All-American Rejects, released their fourth studio album. On Kids in the Street, they decided to experiment with new sounds in the studio this time around and quite honestly, nothing astounding came out of this.Each song sounds like it’s been on the other previous albums. It’s hard to imagine Tyson Ritter (lead vocals and bass) will win anyawards in song writing categories with lyrics like “You ugly girls look all so pretty, it’s true” (from lead single “Beekeeper’s Daughter") yet manages to redeem himself with the heartfelt “Tell me how I am supposed to breathe, losing you is choking me” (“Heartbeat Slowing Down”).Standout tracks include the already mentioned “Beekeeper’s Daughter”, “Heartbeat Slowing Down” and “Walk Over Me”. Sadly the title track, “Kids In The Street” sounds like it just belongs on an entirely different album and done by a different band.Anyone expecting the next “Swing, Swing” or “Move Along” will sadly be disappointed by this album.
