Something For Your Earholes – The Gaslight Anthem – Get Hurt

Gaslight_Anthem_Get_HurtAbout a month ago, I heard the news that The Gaslight Anthem was releasing a brand new album titled Get Hurt when they released the video for lead single "Rollin’ and Tumblin". I was instantly hooked and greatly anticipated the release. This New Jersey rock band has released some great records and the past and I knew I wouldn't be disappointed with this new release.Get Hurt (their fifth studio album) was finally released on August 12th and it did not let me down. The first track "Stay Vicious" gives us a grittier sound from this band. Lead singer Brain Fallon’s vocals matches up perfectly with this new sound, and the guitar work by Alex Rosamilia is nothing short of beautiful."Rollin’ and Tumblin’" is the aforementioned lead single off the album. It offers a quick tempo song full of energy and vigor.Title track and second single "Get Hurt" is hauntingly beautiful. You can really tell how much the band has been influenced by fellow New Jersey native Bruce Springsteen. It is simply a beautiful balled that is sung with passion. My favorite track on the album is "Break Your Heart". It’s another slow down song, that reminds me of an old Tom Petty song. There is something about the lyrics that just strike you with melancholy and stillness. “It would break your heart, if you knew me well. See, I have run so far that I’ve lost myself. And there are things I have seen, that I never will tell. They drove me out of my mind, and inside of myself.”Other stand out tracks are 1,000 Years, Helter Skeleton and Red Violins. The album as a whole is a must have for any true rock fans out there. It’s a very easy 4.5 out of 5 Stars. Please check out the videos for Rollin’ and Tumblin’ and Get Hurt below.
