Something For Your Earholes: Stone Sour – House Of Gold & Bones: Part I

by: Charley (@ruperto2106)House of Gold & Bones: Part 1, the fourth studio album from Iowa based rock band, Stone Sour, released today (October 23, 2012) and it honestly has to be the hardest album from the band. Both albums will have a comic book released as a tie in to the story of both albums. The first part of this double album (Part II is due to release early 2013) was billed as Pink Floyd’s The Wall meets Alice In Chains Dirt. Not a bad thing as the minute I hit play I am greeted with Cory Taylor’s distinct growl and a wonderful guitar rift and the lyrics that start the first track “Gone Sovereign” that makes it known this is about to become serious listening material “No one’s laughing now”.Lead single “Absolute Zero” keeps the head banging mentality in tack with lyrics and rhythmic melodies that are easy to follow and gets you hooked in for more. If you’re looking for more of a “Through Glass” feel of Stone Sour then “The Travlers, Pt. 1” and “Taciturn” is right up your ally.Taylor’s vocals shine on this album and each song brings something to the table to fit any emotion you could be going through. Standout tracks on this album include “Gone Sovereign”, “Absolute Zero”, “Tired” and “Last Of The Real”.I’m giving the House of Gold & Bones: Part 1... 4/5!Check out the video for “Gone Sovereign/Absolute Zero”![youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQUAeHlm8Ds]
