On April 29th, Brendon Small, creator of Metalocalypse and Home Movies, released Galaktikon to the masses. Some people may say, how can you take a person that makes cartoons attempting to make music seriously? Brendon Small is a graduated from the Berklee College of Music but after graduating felt that the rock music genre was fading in popularity, so he decided to go into comedy.Small describes Galaktikon as "a high stakes, intergalactic, extreme rock album." Along with Dethklok members, Gene Hoglan (drums) and Bryan Beller (bass), Brendon (vocals and guitar) brings a similar sound but with more of a rock element and melodic vocals. This album is full of amazing guitar solos, sweet bass grooves, thundering double bass and vocals that will make just about anyone want to sing along. This album follows "Triton"(also the name of the first track), a super hero that is going though a messy and very public intergalactic divorce, but his ex-wife is kidnapped and he tries to save her but finds out that she is actually dating her kidnapper. It's difficult to just pick a few songs that really stand out, but the few that have really been repeating in my head have been "Triton", "Deathwaltz", "Prophecy Of The Lazer Witch", "Dangertits", "Beastblade", "Truth Orb And The Kill Pool" and "On My Way". That's almost the whole darn thing!Brendon Small's Galaktikon is an amazing album and is definitely worth a listen!
